What is CBD (Cannabidiol)?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, a compound found naturally in hemp plants. More impressive than that is how CBD may support a feeling of peace and wellness in people. It’s also important to understand that it’s not intoxicating, so you can easily add CBD to your daily routine without feeling any kind of high.
Here at CBD Nectar, we are committed to increasing your mental and physical well-being. We’ve sourced the very best CBD products with your active life in mind.
CBD can be taken in many different forms. You might have seen people use sublingual CBD Oils, often referred to as CBD tinctures or CBD hemp oil. These oils are very popular because they are easily absorbed under the tongue and can take effect quickly.
We also offer a broad range of CBD products designed to slot into any kind of lifestyle, including CBD-infused Coffee, CBD edibles, CBD skin-care products, and many more.
What Are Terpenes?
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found naturally in flowers, fruits and herbs secreted in the same glands that produce cannabinoids like CBD.
Terpenes are aromatic oils that bring a unique aroma and taste to hemp varieties with distinctive flavours like mint, citrus, pine, and berry.
Research has indicated that a natural profile of terpenes may heighten the body’s unique ability to process CBD. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as the “entourage effect”.
What Is The Endocannabinoid System?
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a group of receptors in your brain and nervous system. These receptors work with cannabinoids made by your body, and those made by plants such as CBD. The ECS helps keep your body’s internal systems regulated and in balance.
In the 1990’s, scientists identified endocannabinoids, the natural cannabis-like molecules made by the human body. Scientists identified that cannabis exerted its effects, partly, by mimicking our own endocannabinoids. The main function of the human endocannabinoid system is to efficiently maintain bodily homeostasis (biological harmony in response to changes in the environment). Further scientific investigation showed that the endocannabinoid system is astonishingly old, having developed over 500 million years ago. Furthermore, it’s present in all vertebrates (mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, fish, etc).
Research originally led scientists to believe that endocannabinoid receptors were solely located in the brain and nerves, but they later found that the receptors exist throughout the human body. We now know that the endocannabinoid system is involved in a broad range of bodily processes, including memory, mood, appetite, pain management, stress, metabolism, sleep, reproductive and immune function.
Endocannabinoids are without a doubt one of the most extensive and versatile signalling molecules known to science.
How much CBD should I take?
There are several variables involved when it comes to deciding just how much CBD to take, and this also varies from person to person. Most products are clearly marked with directions as to just how much to use, and it is always advised to begin with the lowest dose and refine the process of trial and error to decide just how much is the perfect amount for you.
We also have a handy CBD Dosing Guide with some additional info.
What does “full-spectrum” mean?
Full-spectrum is used when a CBD product is made from the whole plant, it’s called full-spectrum because all the plants’ cannabinoids and terpenes are included in the product.
Every cannabinoid and terpene found in a hemp plant has a very specific biochemical effect, and studies have shown there can be a greater benefit when the full spectrum of compounds are taken together in what is often referred to as the “Entourage Effect.”
There are over 100 cannabinoids that make up the hemp plant CBC, CBG, CBN, THC, CBD with some more commonly recognizable than others. Per UK standards, full-spectrum CBD made from industrial hemp has below .02% THC, a negligible amount that will not make you high.
Will Full Spectrum CBD Oil Make Me High?
CBD products used at the most commonly recommended dosages have no possible chance of making you “high”. Because full-spectrum CBD oil contains such a low concentration of THC, the risk of intoxication just isn’t a problem.
Is CBD UK legal?
CBD oil is fully legal in the UK if it has a THC content of below 0.02% with THC being a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
CBD must be extracted from an industrial-grade hemp strain that’s been fully approved by the UK. Hemp is quite different from cannabis as it is naturally low in THC and high in CBD.
THC is the part of cannabis that can cause the feeling of being high. For CBD to be legal in the UK it must have a THC content of no more than 0.2%. The UK government rules also ensure that the tiny levels of THC present in CBD oils can not be easily separated from it.
